September 29, 2020:
We have a Winner!
Congrats to FE.
After 7 long seasons, Silk finally gets his name in the
rafters leading his team to victory in a tightly
contested Series 2 finals.
Looking to repeat the mercy from the first series, <FE>
picked SMAP29, but had to work hard to regain tech
control in order to take and maintain a lead, winning
the first game 4-1.
Game 2 on SMAP21 was intense and required the
tie-breaker on frags to determine the winner.
What a great season it's been. Big thanks to all
who participated. |

September 22, 2020:
Finals - Series 1
vA came out strong
with a big victory in an intense action-packed game 1. It was anyone's game, but vA had the extra cap at the
final countdown.
<FE> later found redemption with a 9-1 victory on SMAP29 and
forced a third game.
Game 3 was one for the ages. vA piling up the
frags in a 0-0 game looked poised to take the W and the
S07 title; however, FE managed to pull out a single cap
in the dying minutes to stay alive and force another
series.
What more could we ask for? Great games. Series 2
(do or die) is next week. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
September 15, 2020:
Tonight featured the
Elimination Round 2 match-up between 2t and <FE>.
<FE> wasted no time getting to work on its map pick.
They maintained quad, kept a solid D and never took the
foot off the gas; cruising to an 8-0 win in game 1.
2t was looking good early on in game 2, but eventually
lost some key techs while trying to maintain quad.
It was all <FE> after that. FE takes the series
2-0 with another 8-cap victory
<FE> certainly made it clear that they're coming for vA.
|
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
September 9, 2020:
QnB simply collapsed
after getting a commanding lead on the first map.
Tech control eventually shifted to 2t who mounted an
impressive comeback to win game 1 by a score of 8-6.
Each team was able to get a cap early in game 2 and it
was a flag stand-off after that. QnB out-fragged
2t to take the game on points and tie up the series 1-1.
In game 3, QnB got out-worked by a more experienced and
hungrier team. 2t ends the season for QnB with the
4-0 win and move on to face <FE> in the Elimination
Round 2 for a chance to play vA in the finals. Good luck
to the remaining players. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
September 1, 2020:
Round 2 was certainly
not devoid of any drama. We had a rage-quit in
game 1 <FE> nearly returned the mercy they got from vA
earlier in the season.
Game 2 was a tight match-up with vA holding it down on
their map pick to take the 2-1 W and tie the series.
In the final frame, vA had all the momentum going their
way up 2-0 in the first 3 minutes. The game was
stopped shortly thereafter and restarted due to a lagged out vA player, but
their 2-0 lead carried over. Despite an impressive
effort, <FE> couldn't complete the comeback, falling
short 5-4. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 26, 2020:
What a crazy game 1
for {QnB}. They let <FE> get the first quick cap,
focusing instead on tech control grabbing both regen and
resist and never letting them go. An impressive
EFC kill ties it up and QnB is on the right side of
points by the end.
Unfortunately, that momentum couldn't last as they fall
2-5 on LMCTF16. <FE>'s third map choice proved too
much of a shit show for {QnB} and they just couldn't
overcome the onslaught with quad.
It's off to the Elimination Round for {QnB} as they look
to stay alive. <FE> move on to face vA in Round 2. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 25, 2020:
2t and vA met up tonight
for their Round 1 Playoff Series.
Just as vA appeared to run away with a 5-3 lead on their
map pick, 2t took control of the quad and came back to
tie it up. However,, vA snuck in a couple more
caps to take game 1.
Continuing with this momentum on 2t's map pick in game
2, vA takes the series from 2t with another close
victory.
Still not out of it, 2t awaits their next opponents -
the losers of the FE-v-QnB match-up, while vA moves on
to play the winner of that series in the next round. |

August 18, 2020:
Earlier in the week,
2t and vA play their 2v2, with 2t taking it 5-2 on
xmap28.
Tonight, the services of a few subs were required to
wrap up the regular season for two of our teams.
QnB started things off with an early lead on SM05 that
slipped away from them - FE took another win 9-7.
vA and 2t play a tight game on LM44, but 2t managed to
grab the W in the last few minutes. 2t then manage
to keep FE to a 2-2 tie on LM16, but on
points.
In the final match, QnB takes the 2v2 from FE 4-3 in a
real close one. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 12, 2020:
QnB came out strong
on Samurai Castles vs. <FE> and looked like it just
might pull another upset on the first place team
this week. Unfortunately, for them, FE snuck
another cap in the final minutes to tie it up; taking
game from QnB on tie-breaker points.
Despite losing RoNiN to connection issues, QnB grabbed
another sub, and with Punkass' help they took another W,
besting vA 3-1 on LMCTF16.
2t, unable to field a proper team tonight will try to
reschedule their games later this week. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 4, 2020:
Oh how the mighty
fall on any given Tuesday. vA mercy-ruled team FE
with an impressive performance on SM17.
QnB gets its 1st full squad win of the season over 2t
despite Seed losing his cable modem connection in the
last 3 minutes.
2t play vA to a very close game on LM18, but eventually
fall 2-3.
FE, thirsty for redemption, play an maintain a firm
defensive presence and persistent offensive pressure
throughout the game to take the final game of the night
3-0 over QnB. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 29, 2020:
We got the remaining
Week 6 games in tonight and all three were close one.
2t and FE had an intense battle finish up in a tie on
caps, with FE edging out 2t on frags to grab the 2
points.
Another heartbreaker for QnB this season. They
looked comfortable with the lead, but Slugsk!e ruined
the fun with the cap in the dying seconds to steal a
victory from QnB.
The night ended with FE and 2t's 2v2. Several
standoffs, but in the end FE take it 2-1. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 22, 2020:
Due to scheduling
conflicts in Week 6, vA and QnB played their 2v2 this
evening.
Things started out okay for QnB taking an early
lead, but IO and Vereke's teamwork and comms
eventually prevailed.
A fairly long stalemate eventually ended with IO
and his damage rune returning the flag. After that
he controlled the rest of the game, going on to score
five unanswered caps, leading vA to a well deserved
victory.
Good luck to the others in Week 6. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 21, 2020:
Tonight, all four
Week 5 games were played.
2t came out strong on LM22 vs. FE, but Silk rallied his
troops can got things back on track to take the game
7-5. vA and QnB played a close back-n-forth game, but vA
takes another one from QnB on points in the 3-3
tie-breaker.
A multiple-cap early lead was too much for QnB to
overcome as they fall to 2t on LM39. FE shuts out
vA 3-0 on the same map
Next week, we got our second 2v2 / 4v4 match-ups. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 15, 2020:
vA played both their
games tonight, one against 2t and another vs. QnB.
In a last minute conflict they needed an extra sub as
both Jahmaii and BigDog couldn't make it.
On SMAP29 things didn't look too good for vA as
2t took the early lead, but vA kept its composure,
regrouped and mounted an impressive comeback to take the
first map 5-3.
{QnB} couldn't catch a break as one of their key players
suddenly had tech issues on comms. The server
crash at the 15 minute mark also didn't help, vA grabbed
its second win of the night 4-2. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 14, 2020:
Well, due to some
miscommunications, we were only able to get two Week 4
games in tonight.
FE and 2t started things off on Break the Ice.
While 2t put on a good show, they didn't have an answer
for Zest and his six caps.
QnB looked like they were doing real well fragging FE,
but it's caps that win games. Great close game
that sees the frag count go to QnB, but FE takes this
one 3-2.
We'll try to get vA's games in tomorrow night. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 09, 2020:
The teams met up
tonight to wrap up Week 3's 2v2 and 4v4s.
The first match literally came down to the last second.
{QnB} couldn't hold on to the flag, being chased by 3 2t
players, one with quad. A last second flag return
with 2t's FC on the flagstand and 2t tie it up, but win
on frags. Closest game yet this season.
FE proved too much for vA's duo as vA falls 10-2 on
LMCTF47
We'll be back to our regular 6v6 match-ups next week. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 07, 2020:
1st of two nights
this week featuring 2v2 and 4v4s. Both games tonight end
early with mercy rules.
{QnB} came out on a mission and they weren't ending the
night without their first victory of the season.
Strong performance by QnB vs. a confident 2t duo.
Zest put on a clinic controlling quad, regen and
essentially the game. It was a tall order for vA
made impossible with Zest's regen and quad control on
that tight map. FE shuts out vA 8-0 in this one.
Back at it on Thursday, July 9th. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 1, 2020:
Next Week (Week 3),
we're mixing things up. Each team will be split up
to form a 2v2 squad and a 4v4 squad.
After some discussion amongst the captains, it has been
decided that each team's 2v2 squad will be made up of
the Captain and the team's 5th round pick, and the 4v4
squad will be made up of the remaining players. No
member of the 2v2 squad can also play in the 4v4 matches
and vice-versa.
Once set, the 2v2 and 4v4 squads must remain the same
for games played in Week 3, 6 and 9.
With that in mind, here are each teams respective
squads:
Fµ©k
Everybody:
-- 2v2:
Silk
(c) and
ORB
-- 4v4:
ZestFullyClean,
Alienkiller,
Incubus,
and
aepod
Vereke's Angels:
-- 2v2:
ImageOmega
(c) and
vereke
-- 4v4:
Slugsk!e,
EvilSlick,
Jahmaii,
and
BigDog
2 Tough:
-- 2v2:
uwantEm
(c) and
ytsejam
-- 4v4:
WOPR,
Punkass,
m@xim,
and
beav
Quake-n-Bake:
-- 2v2:
Seedless
(c) and
Hoodlum
-- 4v4:
Lequen,
RoNiN,
Buzzkill,
and
Dankhuffer
Members of the team's 4v4
squad will be able to remain on the team's voice
channels during the 2v2 matches (and vice-versa);
however, when observing they will be required to observe
only their team members using the console command "observe_blue"
/ "observe_red".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 30, 2020:
Lots of close games
tonight. 2t and FE went first on Reunion with 2t coming
out on top 5-3.
{QnB} came close several times, but just couldn't
get through vA's FC support during the long stalemate.
vA gets their 1st victory of the season with a 2-0 win.
FE was gifted a win on LM20 when vA's flag carrier,
not realizing he had just grabbed quad, blew himself up
in the last minute.
{QnB} let's a 3-1 lead slip away as 2t takes another
victory 4-3. Good games! |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 24, 2020:
2t and {QnB} met
again tonight to have a rematch on account of the
improper substitution earlier in the week.
Unfortunately, Punkass wasn't available, so 2t
took Alienkiller on loan from <FE>.
It was a tightly contested match as the teams exchanged
caps for the most part. There was an extended
stalemate in the second half that was put to an end with
a savage quad (and perhaps damage) rail from 2t on {QnB}'s
FC. Regen just couldn't withstand that shot.
Good game. Back at it again next week. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 22, 2020:
Well, the night was
not without its issues. <FE> kicked things off with an
impressive performance on SMAP06; trailing early in the
game only to come away with the victory 3-2.
After restarting the match due to a few server
crashes, 2t took control and looked like they would
mercy-rule vA, but the tides quickly turned and vA
mounted an incredible comeback only to fall short in a 7-9 loss.
QnB was missing two players. Although they played
with Yertle subbing, the match won't count and the teams
will try to reschedule later this week if possible. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 18, 2020:
We finished out the
rest of the pre-season week tonight.
QnB continues to struggle to find their way this season
falling to 2t on LMCTF 41.
<FE> without their captain and vA without
Jahmaii play to a 1-1 tie, with vA taking the win on
points.
2t play the next map with the same intensity. The
offensive pressure was too much for vA who fall 3-8.
Three games on deck next week. |
|
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 17, 2020:
Team <FE> and {QnB}
kicked-off Season 7 tonight. Due to
schedule conflicts coming in Week 1, they
decided to meet up tonight to play their
pre-season game (SMAP32) and their Week 1 game
(SMAP26).
<FE> came out strong on the first map, scored
quite a few caps in quick succession, before {QnB}
was able to hold them to a long stand-off.
But <FE> proved too much to handle.
Things didn't get much better as the onslaught
continued on SMAP26. More games to come
tomorrow. |
|
|

June 14, 2020:
The captains' draft
took place this evening and we now have our four teams
all set for the Season. Check them out
here.
Next week is the pre-season where teams can get to know
one another and do a practice run on a couple maps.
We play for keeps starting the week after.
I'll be reaching out to everyone in the next day or so
to schedule our games.
Good luck to all teams. Let's make this a great
Season.

June 7, 2020:
The Season 7 Schedule
and maplist have been prepared. The Schedule is
available
here.
New to this season is the 2v2 and 4v4 matches during
weeks 3, 6, and 9. Each team will choose who will
represent them in their respective 2v2 and 4v4 squads;
however, no member of the 2v2 squad can also be a member
of their 4v4 squad. This should make things a
little more interesting throughout the Season.
Following the 18-game
/ 9 week regular season, we'll enter into a
double-elimination playoffs. More on that as we
get closer to the end of regular season play.
All registrants are encouraged to come out for the next
Game of the Week Tues/Thurs Sessions, as this will be
the last one before Silk, ImageOmega, uwantEm and
Seedless pick their respective teams during the draft.
If all goes well, we could start the Season the week of
June 15,
|
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 6, 2020:
With 24 confirmed registrants, the decision's been made
to close registration for Season 07 and to move ahead
with the next steps.
Here's the list of Season 7 participants:
We've got a few more
housekeeping matters to attend to over the next week or
so, but we may look to get the draft done this coming
week, with the first pre-season games taking place the
week of June 15th.
All registrants will get a welcome email from me
sometime soon, so look out for that.
In the meantime, if registrants have
any questions, feel free to reach out to me via

May 27, 2020:
It's
been six long years since the last Season of the
Beatdown. It's about time we do another.
The Beatdown is a Q2 LMCTF
draft-style league for committed fans looking
for serious 5v5 / 4v4 competitive play.
The league will consist of a 6-10 week regular
season followed by a single elimination playoffs
to determine the Season 7 champs.
League games will be scheduled for
Tuesday and/or Thursday nights (10pm EST). Captains can
certainly work amongst themselves to re-schedule
games if necessary; however, to set expectations
for players and non-players alike, let's mark our
Tuesdays/Thursdays in the calendar for the next few weeks
:)
Registration for Season 7 is
now
open.
We need a minimum of
16
players to register.
(20-25 would be most ideal)
Please note:
The success of the league depends on the
commitment of its participants. If you're not
certain you can make this general (weekly) commitment,
or, if you're just not that into this type of formal
competitive play, please don't sign-up; it wouldn't be
fair to your teammates and the other participants.
However, if this is exactly what you were hoping for,
then, please sign up by sending an email to Seedless at
4me2poop0n@gmail.com
with the subject line "[BEATDOWN SEASON 7] - Count me
in!" - or something to that effect.
The draft is will be scheduled soon after the
close of registration with Season 7's games kicking
off the following Tuesday or Thursday.
Please visit the
Info page for further details
on the league; otherwise, if you have any specific questions, feel
free to email the commissioner: <4me2poop0n@gmail.com>.
